Description
The Road to Hana twists along Maui’s lush eastern coastline, rewarding every curve and narrow bridge with landscapes that feel increasingly wild. Near Hana, I found this scene along the black sand coast, where powerful waves crashed against dark volcanic rock and exploded in front of a cave carved into ancient lava. The contrast between brilliant white water and the black shoreline revealed two forces of nature in an endless conversation. The island stands, the Pacific crashes against it, and wave by wave, each leaves its mark on the other. Moments like this make every winding mile of the Road to Hana worthwhile.
