Description
Some landscapes seem made for black and white. On this moody afternoon at Neskowin, the Oregon coast felt dark, quiet, and timeless as the weathered remains of an ancient forest emerged from the shoreline beneath an overcast sky. Without color, the textures of the old stumps, movement of the Pacific, and heavy coastal atmosphere became even more pronounced. These trees once belonged to a forest that stood here centuries ago. The forest disappeared and the coastline changed, yet its remnants remain. Beneath a dark Oregon sky, the ghosts of that ancient forest seemed to rise from the shore once again.
