There are landscapes that feel familiar.

And then there are landscapes that seem to belong to another world entirely.

Among the ancient granite formations of the Buttermilks, a massive rock in the foreground takes on the unmistakable shape of a sleeping dragon, its rugged profile resting quietly beneath the vast expanse of the Eastern Sierra.

Beyond it, the mountains rise dramatically into the sky as a storm begins to gather. Dark clouds roll across the peaks, creating an atmosphere that feels almost mythical, as though the landscape itself is waiting for something to awaken.

Standing there, it was easy to imagine this scene as the setting for an ancient legend, or perhaps a forgotten kingdom from another age.

But the real magic was that no fantasy was necessary.

The Eastern Sierra had already created something extraordinary.

A sleeping dragon rests among the granite.
