Sunset over the beautiful landscape of the Oregon coast.

There are places that become more than destinations over time. Pacific City is one of those places for us.

We have returned to this beautiful stretch of the northern Oregon coast again and again, drawn by its dramatic scenery, windswept dunes, coastal trails, and the simple pleasures that make a weekend here feel like a true escape. It is a place where the days are easily filled with adventure, and the evenings are best spent watching the light disappear over the Pacific.

On this evening, we climbed the dunes toward the summit, searching for a higher perspective over the coastline. From the top, the view opened dramatically before us. Cape Kiwanda stretched along the shore, with the iconic silhouette of Haystack Rock perfectly positioned within the scene.

Then the light began to fall into place.

The setting sun illuminated the sky behind the composition, creating a delicate balance between the warm evening glow, the sculpted dunes, the rugged coastline, and the unmistakable presence of Haystack Rock. For a brief moment, every element seemed to align perfectly.

It was one of those rare moments when the landscape, the light, and the perspective come together exactly as you had imagined.

And from the top of the dunes, with this view before us, it was easy to understand why this will always be one of our favorite places.
