Along the McKenzie River Trail, the landscape feels almost too beautiful to be real. The water flows with an extraordinary turquoise-green color, winding through an ancient forest and plunging over massive waterfalls that seem to belong in a cinematic fantasy.

Capturing this perspective of Koosah Falls required a little exploration, and a fair amount of scrambling over tree roots and uneven terrain. But some of the most beautiful places are not found by simply following the easiest path. They reveal themselves to those willing to venture a little farther.

As I climbed along the forest floor, the scene gradually opened before me. The brilliant waters of the McKenzie River flowed through the foreground, while Koosah Falls thundered through the trees beyond, creating a scene that felt both wild and impossibly serene.

The effort was worth every step.

Because the most memorable views are often the ones that require a little adventure to find.
