Creekside

It had been some time since I had last visited Tumalo Falls, and as we arrived in the fading light of evening, I wasn't quite sure what we would find.

The landscape had changed.

Trees had grown into the familiar line of sight, quietly reshaping the view I remembered. The classic perspective was no longer quite the same, and with the light disappearing quickly, it would have been easy to simply accept that the photograph I had imagined was no longer possible.

Instead, we searched for another way.

A rugged path led us down toward the creek, where the landscape became far more wild and intimate. We scrambled over roots, rocks, and uneven ground, moving carefully through the fading light until the scene began to reveal itself.

From below, Tumalo Falls took on an entirely different character.

The rushing water, the surrounding forest, and the rugged textures of the creek came together in a composition that could never have been found from the original viewpoint. What began as an unexpected obstacle ultimately led to something better, a perspective shaped by exploration rather than convenience.

Sometimes, the landscape changes the plan.

And sometimes, the best photographs are waiting just beyond the view you originally came looking for.
